Miniatures, One of My Not-So-Secret Passions

There is a high probability that if you know me outside of the “art and intuition” setting, you’ve picked up that I really, really like small things. Took look at, to make, to covet, to gush over, all of them. Why? Lets save ourselves and not get into that right now, I’m not even entirely sure why… And why shouldn’t I love them?! There’s a long history of people loving miniatures, and whole schools and summer camps devoted to it! (Dream vacation: The Guild School in June at The Maine Maritime Academy in Castine, Maine.)

Making miniatures is a way for me to relax and play. I get to create highly curated spaces and things to fill those spaces in a variety of themes. For now, I am using Etsy to sell my minis— but I am looking to make my site into a storefront for them sometime in the future. If you see something you like, you can reach out to me directly or go to my Etsy and purchase the item.

Here is a miniature feast of some of the small item’s I’ve made over the last few years. Enjoy!

Miniature Caprese salad on a plate. The tomatoes were a really challenging cane to make and stretch! I ended up making a push-mold for the leaves. I carved the leaf shape into polymer clay to make the mold. As with most things, the item that looks deceptively simple was one of the biggest challenges!

A table setup from the “Hearts Collection” mini series i did in 2024. The Brigid’s cross is made of tamale wrappers! The cookies are polymer clay. The took some practice with the icing.

Wearable minis! Fishing line was threaded through the top of the tomato and cemented in, then the quest to get that cascade had MANY detours. I think we got it in the end though. Very pleased with the result, and as a bonus they are very lightweight and easy to wear.

A pumpkin pie from at least 4 years ago! I should revisit this one and try again after all the learning. Ooo yum, pie season is almost here!

A super special feature, Miniature Altar/Witch Kits!

I painted and textured the cauldron, made the unique potions and crystal balls from bead bits, found the freshwater pea clam shells, and lastly gathered & dried the sweet woodruff herb bundle from my garden. This highly magical kit is made for imbuing the smallest spaces with potent and thoughtful magic.

Hope you enjoyed this mini tour!
